Los Angeles Hair Transplant Surgeon Now Corroborates a Study Showing Hair Transplants Improve the Quality Of Life for Patients
According to a recent study in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery men who had a hair transplant were deemed to be more attractive, youthful, approachable and successful ergo happier.
These more positive perceptions were helpful in leading to a better overall quality of life for the hair restoration patients. These results support a previous study conducted by Dr. Parsa Mohebi, the founder of Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration.
The previous study, performed along with Dr. William Rassman, examined the psychological impact of hair loss as well as the positive effects of a hair transplant. “Our study surveyed the changes experienced by 200 patients who had hair transplants in the past,” stated Dr. Mohebi. The study questionnaire featured multiple criteria including self-confidence, level of happiness, energy level, feelings of youthfulness and anxiety as well as how the procedure impacted their career and sex life. When discussing the results, Dr. Mohebi said, “We found the patients showed significant improvements in each of the criteria. The results confirmed the significance of a healthy head of hair to the self-esteem of a male patient.”
Dr. Mohebi says the results of the new JAMA study substantiate the results from his earlier study measuring the psychological and social impacts of hair loss on men with male-pattern baldness. “A full head of hair has always been a symbol of power and strength. Therefore, hair loss can have a devastating psychological impact on the self-worth of a person,” stated Dr. Mohebi. He went on to say, “Hair loss can negatively affect a person in many ways including their intimate relationships, self-confidence and work performance. It can also be an underlying cause of depression. There have been studies suggesting that patients with an active social life who experience hair loss early in life are more inclined to suffer from psychological issues related to the hair loss.”

Hair restoration can help prevent or reverse many of the psychological problems linked with hair loss. Dr. Mohebi says that the more a person suffers from the negative aspects of hair loss, the greater their psychological well-being can be after a hair transplant. According to Dr. Mohebi, “The results of a hair transplant can restore the self-esteem of a patient, greatly improve his overall quality of life and give a person more self-confidence in social and work situations.”
